About 6,000 Muslim clerics from around India approved a fatwa against terrorism Saturday at a conference in Hyderabad. Maulana Qari Mohammad Usman Mansoorpuri, president of the Jamaiat-Ulama-i-Hind, called terrorism the most serious problem facing Islam, The Hindu reported. He blamed Islamic radicals for their actions and the news media for failing to distinguish between the radicals and the majority of Muslims.

These 6,000 Muslim clerics now join the tens of thousands of other Muslim leaders internationally who have unconditionally condemned terrorism, issuing many fatwas against terrorism, violence, suicide bombing and violence. Of course, the right-wing, Islamophobic extremists continue to condemn all of Islam for the actions of the small percentage of terrorists, ignoring the multitude of other types of terrorists, and completely ignoring - to the point of denying - the long list of prominent Muslims who condemn terrorism.
